Chester close to Ty Mawr

Chester is a county town in the county of Cheshire and is of great historical interest, from Roman times to the present day.
Noted for its magnificent two-tier medieval arcades that is full of great little shops. Chester ranks as one of the most highly places to visit in England. Chester is close to Ty Mawr Holiday Park.

History

Chester History

Chester History - originally settled by the Romans in the first century AD, some of the roman structure still survives today. Later Chester came under attack by the Vikings who sailed up the river in there long ships. By Georgian times the port was virtually gone, silted up. Many new houses were built by the townsfolk and Chester prospered, most of which today are the little shops and cover alleys.

Grosvenor Park Miniature Railway - was built railway, built in 1996 to commemorate the centenary of the Duke of Westminster’s railway at nearby Eaton Hall, is popular with young and old alike and has become one of Chester’s top tourist attractions. They operate steam and diesel hauled trains, on a ¼ mile circuit around the lake in Chester’s Grosvenor Park.
